Frances McDormand is a three-time winner of the Academy Award for Best Actress, most recently for her performance in the film, Nomadland.
Make no mistake: actors are entrepreneurs. Yes, the most successful actors and actresses are also large business enterprises with seven, eight, even nine-figure incomes, and teams of people managing and supporting their endeavors. But most actors struggle, or have struggled as some point in their careers. For every dreamer determined to succeed, there are the purposeful–but sometimes rough and tough–first few steps.
McDormand made headlines and raised eyebrows this spring in her Nomadland Oscar acceptance speech by howling on stage, in honor of the film’s sound mixer, Michael Wolf Snyder, who had committed suicide just weeks before.
But it is her acceptance speech in 2018, for her role in the film Three BIllboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, that I want you to hear here.
Imagine yourself in the spotlight, honored for your work, and the stage is all your own.
